Yoga isn't all about headstands and tying yourself up in knots!
There is a growing body of research which has found that combining yoga with psychological therapy can be more effective than either treatment alone, and that yoga and CBT are especially complementary.
Physical and mental health go hand in hand, and therapeutic yoga fully embodies this approach.
Research has found that yogic techniques can be helpful in a range of mental health conditions, including depressive disorders (Balasubramaniam et al., 2013), anxiety conditions (Hofmann et al., 2016), PTSD (Telles et al., 2012), and eating disorders (Neumark-Sztainer, 2013).
All of my therapeutic yoga sessions aim to support overall body and mind wellbeing and include practices that help to reduce anxiety, improve mood, reduce self-criticism, and better sleep.
